Through the Fire

Today I walk through the fires of life
The coals—hot beneath my feet
And yet I’m not consumed by the fire,
The Lord takes the brunt of the heat.

My faith is established with each day.
Year in and year out the decades pass.
But my heart is strengthened by the hour
Graciously, He causes me to last.

The horrid flames, they have not consumed
And the intense heat has not destroyed.
I’ve not succumb to ceaseless assault—
The weapons of Satan’s evil ploy.

The fiery trials they are to try me
And to purify in every way.
Preparing for a life in heaven
Where some day I am going to stay.
