Hurricane Bertha

[Hurricane Bertha, category 2, threatened S.E. Georgia during the 1996 Atlanta Centennial Olympic games, battering the East Coast and eventually making land fall in North Carolina.]

The first big storm to approach our shores
This eventful year
Was a most unusual one,
Spawning ample fear.

Prancing from the east
On July 10 of ninety-six,
Bertha gave a daring show,
Her path set and aim fixed.

Powerfully determined,
She dazzled o’er the sea.
With forecast unpredictable,
She danced and twirled with glee.
