Fall—in Summer’s Shadow

Fall now tips in summer’s shadow
Ever coming into her own.
Baby steps are now about her,
But very soon, she’ll be full blown.

The signs of fall are everywhere
The subtle baring of a tree.
Oft’ colors changing round about
New landscape etchings for to see.

Yellow, auburn, orange and purple
Lifeless, dry. Leaves winnowing down.
Nestling in a silent heap;
Resting, silent, ’pon the ground.
Fall, now, tips in summer’s shadow
Ever coming into her own.
