The Acid Test of Kindness

There was a certain cripple
Who had begun his day.
Through grueling tasks he fought;
Oh how he pressed his way.
He happened ‘pon a river,
Preparing there to cross.
Regardless how he tried,
His strategies were tossed.
There came a passerby
Who simply stood to stare
To lend a helping hand
Such passerby would dare.
A simple little deed,
Compassion at its best,
The stranger simply forfeited
And failed the kindness test.
