Harvey Visits Texas

South Texas and Louisiana
A year of destiny
A monster that was Harvey
Emerged from the sea.

With fingers, more than ten,
And hands, more than two—
He devastated the land;
In taking wings, he flew.

Inundating many homes.
Snuffing many lives.
Prompting countless rescues.
Thus, the monster thrived.

Chaos far beyond order:
Land and beach erosions
Toxic mold. Septic waters.
Fire, and chem, explosions.

The homeless refugees.
Strangers. Nameless faces.
They all would come together—
Morphing to warm embraces.

On August 25, 2017, Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas as a Category 4 hurricane. The death toll stands at 60. And the damage estimation is between $150 and $180 billion. My prayers are for all the victims. And condolences to all the families sustaining a loss.
