Daybreak

How fragile the light that falls at daybreak
Fashioning yet another unique dawn
That so quietly creeps upon the earth
As heaven’s morning draperies are drawn.

The dew rests upon the tender blades.
Creeping things emerge their hiding places.
The fog settles about low-laid swamps.
Unfolding flow’rs reveal pretty faces.

The sleepy birds awake to sing with glee -
Joining bab'ling brooks in their sweet song.
They all chiming with such excellency
As the day fashionably moves along.

The darkened skies are now become all light.
Mother Nature has put away the night.
