Countdown to Halloween

As we marked our calendars,
The day drew ever near,
Till October 31
Would suddenly appear.

Then 'D-Day,' we'd mark the hour,
Until twas time to dress
In some "foolish-ghoulish" garb.
And Ooooooo! You know the rest.

Counting down of minutes
Till it was time to go...
Knocking! Ringing doorbells.
'Twas quite a freaky show.

Reaping all of the sweet stuff
Each patron had prepared,
Which kept them off the "Hit List"
For those who didn't care.

And the exchange of candy
'Mongst goblins, ghouls and ghosts -
Trading those we liked the least
For those that we loved most.
