Halloween Merchants

The overwhelmed populace
Awaited that spooky night
As the eager merchants stacked
Their shelves with much delight.

Demands were sounding out
To weave some scary tales.
As "ghoulish" merchandise
Brought booming-whacky sales,

A daring time for teens.
The 'sweet' and 'sour' scenes.
But kids loved Halloween,
Despite the ghoulish scenes,

Halloween. Halloween.
'Candy!' Ghosts and Halloween.
Costumes of ghouls and queens.
Kids loving Halloween.

Endnotes: Generating huge revenue, the scary costumes and so-called tricks (ghoulishness) were always a major part of Halloween. Meanwhile, Candy (sweets) has played an equal part. But, I wonder, what would Halloween be without candy?
